Come inside and see!
Surely we all have memories of going to the market. The colours, the smells, the textures and the cross-talk are very characteristic of a setting that few people don’t know about. Campo de Ourique has one of the oldest markets in Lisbon.
The market was inaugurated in 1934 with the purpose of serving and welcoming the customers and neighbours of the Campo de Ourique neighbourhood. In 2013 it was modernised, never losing its essence and history.
The renovation of the space in 2013 wanted to bring it closer to a wider public, giving it a more gourmet concept, with inspiration from the Mercado San Miguel in Madrid. The market is a constantly changing space, seeking to serve all the needs of those who seek it. It has specialised shops, a restaurant area composed of various “cuisines”, from the most traditional and Portuguese, to Japanese, and even the famous Italian cuisine.
At Campo de Ourique Market you can choose the piece of meat or fish you want cooked for you, buy fruit to turn into juice, or even buy the coffee you like best to take home.
To finish, you’ll find free Wi-Fi and so you can use the space to work or study daily from 10am to 11pm, with the exception of Friday and Saturday, which closes at 1am.
To get to the market, if you don’t want to go by bike, you have the tram terminals – the 25 and the 28 and the bus terminal, the 709, which will drop you off at the door!
It’s a hustle and bustle from morning till night!
